A FILM BY Christina Clausen

Fascinating ? as big-hearted, city-centric and energetic as its subject.
-New York Daily News

The creator of some of the most popular and enduring images of late 20th Century art, Keith Haring was also an iconic figure of the downtown New York scene in the ’80s. Christina Clausen’s documentary offers an affectionate and deeply personal glimpse into Haring’s life, from his early years growing up in a small, conservative Pennsylvania town to his heyday as a world-renowned artist, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Madonna, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol. THE UNIVERSE OF KEITH HARING includes audio excerpts from original interviews with Keith Haring conducted by his biographer John Gruen (Keith Haring: the Authorized Biography, Simon and Schuster, 1991). This film features interviews with Fred Brathwaite (A.K.A. Fab 5 Freddy), David LaChapelle, Hans Mayer, Samantha McEwen, Carlo McCormick, Roger Nellens, Yoko Ono, the Haring family and many other people touched by the life and art of Keith Haring.
