Synopsis

The scene is Yugoslavia at the beginning of World War II. An old farmer and his wife are celebrating the anniversary of their wedding. With them are their two sons - one an army officer, the other a doctor who has risen above his peasant background to become head of a clinic in Belgrade. The pleasant village rings to the sound of music and laughter. There is no indication yet of the shadow that lies ahead, for the people's confidence is with the army.
