Louis is lonely, divorced and runs a cafe in a small French town. His sister, Agnes, is a schoolteacher in a loving yet unexciting marriage. All characters are in a state of longing, waiting for something or someone to permeate their lives and make a change. Along comes Stephane, a nervous young man who was once Agnes’ student. It’s slowly revealed that he’s been away for two years and has something to hide.
