Acting Our Age - a film by Gurinder Chadha

"An evocative and engaging film which definitely shatters the stereotypes...
brings home the magnitude of the struggles... A must see!"
- Sunera Thobani, National Action Committee on the Status of Women, Canada

A spirited film documenting a group of South Asian seniors making a video on living and aging in England. Through interviews with a wide range of subjects - from people on the street to members of Parliament - this film reveals the stereotypical attitudes, cultural differences and everyday problems faced by these often neglected citizens.

With passion and dignity, director Gurinder Chadha challenges commonly held views on the lives and experiences of South Asian immigrants to the West. Acting Our Age offers a unique and refreshing perspective on the frustrations, despair, nobility and humour that mark the lives of older people around the world.

Gurinder Chadha was born in Kenya and grew up in Southall, London. Her films include the award-winning "I'm British, but....." (90), "Acting Our Age" (93), and the acclaimed and popular feature film, "Bhaji on the Beach."
